Marty Neilson, Senate District 16, Republican

**Introduction**

In 250 words or less, please summarize why voters should pick you.

I am Marty, Marty Neilson Candidate for State Senate. I'm running against an incumbent who is well loved by special interests and showered in their money! I'm betting that I'm just like you--fed up with politicians that say one thing and mean another--using your vote as a stepping-stone to power, while inventing ever-more regulations, fees, and taxes. Every day a layer of our liberty is peeled off and given to someone else. As your State Senator, I'm going to fight back to propect our liberty. As a taxpayer advocate for the past eight years, I have personally seen what happens to your money when it gets shipped down to Denver and believe me... it isn't pretty. As your State Senator, I will fight for accountability. I'm very concerned with swarms of illegal aliens (and the pretense that we've done something about it), with namby-pamby regulations that keep the government in our faces, and with the absolute failure to demonstrate results for our spending. Small business is the lifeblood of our economy. As State Senator I will work to reduce the endless taxes, fees, regulations and healthcare costs that stifle growth and kill jobs. Most of the people coming to our country are good and honest people who want nothing more than a better life for their families... BUT illegal immigration is a DISASTER that puts a senseless strain on our schools, healthcare system, prisons, and floods our economy with cheap labor that takes real wages and real jobs from Colorado's hardest working citizens. As State Senator I will work with the new Governor to demand the Federal Government do its job and close our borders! I believe in the rule of law and the law should be enforced for all people. As State Senator, I will work to strenghten Colorado laws dealing with illegal aliens. VOTE MARTY State Senate!

**Education**

Do you support more state spending on education? Vouchers? What do you think is the proper role of government in education?

I support parental choice in education. I do not support more spending, I support demanding better results.

**Medicine**

What do you think is the proper role of state government in medicine? Should state policies be different than they are now? If so, how? Do you support a "single payer" health system and/or government-backed "universal" care?

I do not support a "single payer" health system or universal care. I believe people should have choices and responsibilities in their health care decisions. Unfortunately, whenever government gets involved, the price goes up and the quality goes down.
