Bruce Sworn in as Commissioner

Douglas Bruce, author of the 1992 Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, was sworn in January 11, 2005, as a County Commissioner for El Paso. The photo, taken by Ralph Shnelvar, shows a reception following the ceremony. Bruce has become the subject of several stories in the major Denver dailies. The stories have discussed Bruce's opposition to tax-funded abortions, his fight against local Republican leaders who supported a write-in candidate during the election, his opposition to resolutions he sees as a waste of time, and his desire to lower taxes in his county.
