Alan Albertus Championed Bill of Rights
by Ari Armstrong, May 4, 2004
Alan Albertus believed in the Bill of Rights, and he focused much of his time defending the Second Amendment. An active member of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and, with his wife Crystal, Second Amendment Sisters, Alan was also one of the founders of the Colorado group that evolved into the Tyranny Response Team (which is no longer active). Sadly, he passed away April 29 in a house fire at age 51. Memorial services will be held May 5. A memorial fund has been established for his family.
I didn't know Alan well, but he was always a jovial fellow the times we met. Once, after a .50 cal. shoot, I got to spend some time talking with him under the cool open sky.
In an April 30 e-mail, Dudley Brown of RMGO wrote that Alan and Crystal have, since 2000, "put their efforts into building Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and the Second Amendment Sisters. He was a very active RMGO member... Alan will be greatly missed..."
Alan is pictured at a June 21, 2000, meeting held by the Boulder City Council. The Star of David, which several people wore that day, prompted an interesting exchange between Bobbie Towbin of the ADL and Bob Glass, another member of the TRT.
