Ewegen Votes for Shnelvar
Ralph Shnelvar For Governor
Bob Ewegen says: I just refuse to waste my vote.
The following was sent to the Shnelvar for Governor campaign by Bob Ewegen, editorial writer for the Denver Post. The following represents his personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Denver Post.
I just refuse to waste my vote. Owens has been a good governor, but he vetoed a very modest reform of our drug laws that slightly reduced some sentences and used the money saved for treatment because he wanted to show how tough on drugs he was. That bill passed the House 62-1, and the with 27 out of the 35 senators (I'm not sure of the no votes because you can't be sure all 35 were present. Even if every vote against it was a republican vote, it had majority Republican support in the Senate and almost unanimous bipartisan support in the House.
Rollie Heath, to my knowledge, hasn't said word one criticizing the war on drugs, he just wants to spend more money than Owens does, mostly on things of little or no consequence to taxpayers. I specifically asked him three times to cite a single example of where he would cut the state budget. He failed to do so three times.
You are the only candidate who has forthrightly attacked the erosion of our freedoms in the name of the drug war and urged the legalization of marijuana, a first step towards reigning in the madness of the Nanny State in alliance with the Police State.
Under the circumstances, voting for anybody but you would have wasted my vote.
