Denny is running for Arapahoe County Clerk & Recorder against Republican incumbent Tracy Baker whose re-election bid has been marred by a sex scandal which includes charges of misappropriation of taxpayer dollars. Kathleen Conway, who served as the Chief Deputy Clerk and Recorder for Douglas County from 1989 to 1999, has endorsed Margaret's campaign. "As an Arapahoe county taxpayer and the former Chief Deputy Clerk & Recorder for Douglas County I have grave concerns about the current state of the Arapahoe County Clerk & Recorder's office. It is my opinion that Margaret Denny is the best qualified candidate for this office. "I believe that she will restore much needed honesty and integrity. It is clear from Ms. Denny's professional history that she has the information technology expertise that will be needed to move this office forward into the future." The Denver Post on Wednesday October 23, 2002 gave their endorsement of Denny urging Arapahoe County voters to "Dump Baker, and Elect Denny" stating they, "...can also vouch for Denny's competency. As information director of the state Libertarian Party, she has been a well-organized and responsive source of information on the party's candidates. Her down-to-earth persona would be a distinct asset in public office." The Aurora Sentinel gave their nod to Denny last week stating she, "...is a credible, far better choice to run the office." The Sentinel also addressed the issue of a change in technology that is facing the Arapahoe County's Clerk and Recorder's office. They mentioned that Denny, "is perfectly suited to oversee just how those things might happen."
