LP Urges "No" Vote on Amendment 30
LIBERTARIAN PARTY of Colorado
AMENDMENT 30 BAD FOR ELECTIONS--VOTING CHICAGO STYLE
The Libertarian Party of Colorado announces its opposition to Amendment 30—Election Day Registrations.
Amendment 30 is just asking for voting fraud. It would allow citizen registration to vote on an election day, instead of the current system where registration for elections is closed 30 days before the election.
This system reminds us of the 1960 Presidential Election in Chicago where Democrats were bussing voters from one precinct to the next so they could vote Chicago Style -- vote early, vote often. With today's advances in fake identification production it would be simple to have similar electioneering if Amendment 30 passes. As ridiculously bitter and hard-fought as some campaigns are getting, this would be a very bad idea.
We have never had problems with registering to vote before an election. In fact, the Libertarian Party is a prime source to register to vote if voters don't want to deal with the DMV, County Clerk, or any other governmental agency. (Contact your local or state Libertarian Party Representative for more details.)
So if voters want to vote, they should still register 30 days before the election, and see us in the process. But Colorado is not Chicago, and 2002 is not 1960, so let's not go back to that future.
Vote NO on Amendment 30, but be sure to register 30 days before you do so.
