Handgun Control Lies for Money

by Ari Armstrong, January 8, 2000

I recently received a fundraising letter from Handgun Control, Inc., the national anti-gun lobby group chaired by Sarah Brady. The bad news is that HCI will use the money it raises from the fundraiser to further assault the right to bear arms. The good news is, if I'm on the mailing list, that means HCI is working from a poor list and so won't raise as much money as Brady would like. (Needless to say, I didn't send the group a contribution. I am curious as to how the organization got my name, though.)

Perhaps civil arms advocates are interested in what Brady has to say. The entire text of the four-page letter is included below. (Text from the separate "referendum" survey is not included.) Brady's letter is in blockquotes; my comments are interspersed in normal alignment.

Dear Fellow American,

I believe there exists a mojority of Americans who are deeply concerned about the gun violence that we live with in our country today.

Certainly! For instance, many are very concerned about the gun violence committed against Vicki Weaver by FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi. (CHECK SPELLING
